I’m actually a gentle, peace-loving, rather agreeable person.

In describing a recent confrontation between me and a fellow human being (too benign to go into detail here), I said to my wife, “I don’t understand why these things always seem to happen to me.” She laughed. “Matt, you’re always looking for a fight. You want to fight with everyone. Other people try to avoid these confrontations.”

I was surprised by her response.

“I’m not looking to fight with everyone,” I said. “I just want everyone to agree with me.”

I know it sounds ridiculous, but wanting to fight everyone and wanting everyone to agree with me are two entirely different things.

Right?
